abandonment

my brothers wife of 16 yrs was caught by the police with another man in a car . police was ask to be there while she packed her things , they said clothes only, but my brother let her fill a uhaul truck up. it was her decision to leave the home and marriage. ( the home was our mothers and left it to him when she died. ) she had the lights and water disconnected. now 3 weeks later she says her lawyer told her she could move back home . Is this legal , they are in louisiana . kids are grown and not living there. she has admitted to sleeping around with diff. men for at least 2 yrs. she has also bought acre of land and a trailor to move in when its livable over a yr ago. what legal ground does my brother have . can she just move back in . he doesn't want her to he has moved on and started dating another lady.
